Looking Back

2009 September 5

I’ve been feeling a little nostolgic lately which made me think back on my time since I discovered Taylor Hick’s music while watching American Idol. It was the first year I ever watched the show and honestly turned it on out of sheer boredom. Now that I  think of it, it was also the last year I watched the show. At first I wasn’t sure who I liked best.  Taylor Hicks, Ace Young, Kellie Pickler, Katharine McPhee, Paris Bennet were all my favorites in the beginning and I really still do like them all. It was week 3 when Taylor sang Taking It To the streets that I became totally mesmerized by him as a performer. It was the first week I ever picked up the phone to vote and not only to vote once but the entire 2 hours the voting lines were open which I continued to do every week until Taylor’s victory at the end of that season. I was completely and forever blown away by him.  That night Simon told Taylor that his performance of  Taking It To The Streets was a  ”radio” performance. That just goes to  shows how little he knows. I had this video on my DVR and after voting I think I must have watched this perfomance 50 times in a row. I just couldn’t stop watching. Taylor is a not only an excellent singer who’s voice is clear and strong and at times haunting, he’s a genius on the harmonica, and one hell of a great stage performer which is why he became such a success so quickly doing the Grease musical.  I hope you all enjoy this video. I can still watch this one over and over again. It brings back the sweet memory of my very first THUD!

Happy Birthday Jeanni. I hope you have a great day and do something really special!  I couldn’t think of a better gift to give you than some smokin hawt pics of your favorite hottie Taylor Hicks!  I got these off of his new website. The pics are professionally done by his concert photographer Daniel A Swalec. I can see why Taylor chose to hire this guy..WOW!

Taylor Rocked Smith’s Old Bar in Atlanta Georgia on Sunday Night.

2009 August 18

Taylor Hicks put on another kick ass concert the other night as Smiths Old Bar in Atlanta.  Taylor was on fire that night and really seemed to be happy to be back in the south. He performed in two Grease shows that that day then came out to perform an acoustic set for his fans. I think the acoustic sets are wonderful and showcase his clear, strong  and at times haunting vocals.  Here are some videos taken by some very generous Soul Patrol members. Once again Taylor was looking fine!
