Taylor’s New Album Due to be Released February 10, 2009

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ — He’s “Takin’ It to the Streets” on “American Idol” — now Season 5 winner Taylor Hicks will be takin’ it more directly to the people. Celebrating his birthday today, Hicks has tapped the independent artist services company Artist To Market (A2M) to release his much-buzzed-about new album, due in stores on February 10, 2009. The platinum-selling singer-songwriter will be releasing the new title with complete control of direction and ownership of his masters on his solely owned and operated, Modern Whomp Records label. Hicks is currently in the studio with producer Simon Climie (Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Faith Hill).
“In this digital age, when artists can connect more directly with audiences, this is a partnership that makes a lot of sense,” says Hicks. “I’m very much enjoying being in the studio with Simon working on the new album and look forward to releasing it through A2M early next year.”

During the last two years, Taylor Hicks has seen his self-titled Arista debut album certified platinum, performed with the likes of Willie Nelson, Widespread Panic, The Allman Brothers and Jackson Browne, toured through Asia, penned the brisk-selling Random House memoir Heart Full of Soul, spent time in NY this past summer for his three-month Broadway debut as “Teen Angel” in Grease, and will take Grease on a national tour beginning December 1.
In August Hicks’ Modern Whomp Records released Early Works (a reissue compilation of his two independent albums, In Your Time and Under the Radar) through the Welk Music Group. Hicks is also planning the release of Whomp at the Warfield, a DVD showcasing a live performance by Hicks and his band at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco.

BHG- This is such wonderful news for Taylor, being signed a release date for the CD on his birthday. I am sure he planned it this way, giving a little part of himself to his fans on his day. In my opinion this sentence is proof of what some people have been thinking all along. Taylor has made all the right decisions up to date and now will own and control his own musical and financial future. He is one smart man!

People that may have strayed waiting I believe will come back, he is so talented. I can’t wait for the DVD to come out, maybe that one by Christmas would be nice. I was so excited when I saw Jeanni post about this new album, from his own record company.(Thanks BHG for making this a special thread)
This so reminds me of many stories in history. For instance, whenever one of the “leaders” of a pack of followers, in this instance, Taylor Hicks, would go to do their work- which meant turning away from the “People”- of which means, THE FANS, the people would begin to wonder, they would start to have doubts, they would begin to make fun, then they would have lavish parties and corrupt meetings to overthrow their leader, they acted as if they hated him! BUT, as soon as he re-appeared *GASP* then those that had been part of the, well, conspiracy to overthrow him or should I say, to abandon ship? The turncoats, the backstabbers, the ones with forked tongues, well, (that just about covers it), all started coming back either to try to be in his better graces OR they will become more evil and defiant. Watch them, wait and see.
History provides us with many acts of human nature. Sometimes, just shaking your head is not enough. Speaking on their behalf helps and that is what we are doing here.
For Taylor, this is the way he does it. Like it OR NOT! If you have no faith in him, then you should not consider yourself a member of the soul patrol. He is a talented musician that HAS made it, will continue to make it, will venture into his own way of doing business, use his abilities in whichever and whatever venue he desires and prove NOTHING to some and prove EVERYTHING to most but he DOESN’T HAVE TO~*where is that smilie with the tongue sticking

Oh man Jeanni! The shake n bake! That’s one of my favorite videos. Just think about it, soon Taylor is going to tour with Grease, release his new cd and dvd and then a concert tour. This leads to more Taylor grooves, shakes, shimmies, growls, sexy faces *thud* I think I just about died.

Taylor Hicks is adding to the recent surge of news to come from otherwise forgotten American Idol types, announcing his next album will drop Feb. 10, 2009.
After getting dumped by J Records earlier this year, the season-five Idol champ will be releasing the still-untitled album through the indie company Artist to Market with an assist from his own label, Modern Whomp Records, to “connect more directly with audiences.”
The Silver Fox has already begun work on the follow-up to his platinum-selling debut, teaming with producer Simon Climie, who has previously collaborated with the likes of Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana and Faith Hill.

I feel Taylor always has wanted to be a musician. Look at his life before AI. A person doesn’t just stop being who they have always been. He had fun with Grease and decided he likes that type of thing, but he still wants to be a touring musician. I didn’t lose hope that he’s never make the kind of music I was drawn to. We just need to have patience and wait to see what Taylor has in store for us.
Smarty I never lost faith either. I knew he would always be a touring musician and I thought he wanted to try some other things too, like acting. There is so much being offered to him right now that he has many, many different opportunities. The National Grease tour is a way for him to learn a new skill, season his craft, reach and audience he probably wouldn’t have otherwise, make money, promote his new single and cd, and get publicity. These things will all help him in the long run and he will be able to have the life long musical career he’s always dreamed of. Taylor Hicks is the king of creative marketing.

I just read on the Taylor Hicks site that Taylor will be performing his new single at ALL of the shows on his National Grease tour, not just the ones after the cd is released. I thought I was excited to see Grease before!! It keeps getting better and better all of the time!

Wanna know something funny? The orphans seem to be fighting amongst themselves more than they want to fight with us. Just as predicted, they are all excited about Taylor. What happened about all these loonie haters leaving? Damn! Like fly paper, they just won’t go away, stuck like glue to Taylor and some are now admitting it. That is a shocker. Taylor is magic. Taylor’s one of the most creative guys I’ve ever seen. He’s got the patience of Job! He did say in the interview (B’ham News) that what all the naysayers were rattling on about was FAR FROM THE TRUTH…HA…Like we didn’t know that?
Of course, a certain strain of losers, were on the war path, constantly negative and harping away over the SP being positive while they were ANYTHING but that and on one blog after another!
Not only the naysayer, faux TH fans, but THE major chroll, with her four or so blogs (what DOES this woman do all day other than making fun of TH and his fans? OMG) all for naught, cause we don’t give a fat fig about THEM. I certainly don’t. Taylor’s takin care of business, the old fashtioned way, WORKING FOR IT. CBB, You nailed it, it is all about repsect for the man and his choices. He owes no one any answers as to why he does or doesn’t. Either you respect him as a person/performer or just don’t get involved. He doens’t need all the negative stuff it just isn’t right. I agree that Respect is so important and it is a good word. If you don’t respect someone and you don’t treat a person with respect then you have given them nothing.
I think alot of women and men in relationships, step over the line when they start to loose respect. The love dwindles away because without respect, there can be no love. Not to say that we are “in love” with Taylor, by any means. But, we do honor him. That ignites fury with those that look for anything that they can to discredit him. Constantly being in battle. Those of us that can not and will not tolerate it any more, are finally speaking up. Our voices are positive about Taylor. We also have alot of positive things to say about those in his fanship, many of whom call themselves the Soul Patrol. So many wonderful people out there that just enjoy him, his music, his charisma and his acting and dancing and plain old performing on any capacity. It is about “THE MAN”.
I think also that many of the WOMEN that speak so harshly and negatively, are spoiled brats that want things their way. Obviously, most are unhappy in their own lives. Finding a tolerance to even read their messages is often quite depressing. I know that they seem depressed and sad. Those that have been found out are angry. They are angry by nature. It is as if they are saying, My way or the highway. The truth is, the highway sounds good to me as far as they are concerned. If you are not happy with a singer/celebrity then why are you hanging around? Just to taunt and troll? Doesn’t that ever get old to them? I could bash the hell out of some of their favorites other than Taylor. There are plenty of things that I have had to bite my tongue on saying. They are no contest. The reason? We have never given them the same hateful backlash. Had we? They would be made to look the fools that they are. It is just that we have integrity.
I have heard mixed reviews on our blog here. Some are jealous of this blog because we have the freedom to express our joys and our dissapointments without being repromanded. You will not see certain visitors post here because they are eliminated for a reason. They have not gained the respect to post. Again, the word respect. Some blogs are open to certain criteria and that is their business. We consider our views and policies our business. It is a shame that many are so afraid to come out and say what they really feel. So many here are brave and forthcoming. Open and honest. Don’t give a rat’s ass what anyone thinks that is objectionable.
If there is someone out there lurking. We are getting a massive amount of hits. We know that you are there. Go ahead and join us. Don’t be controlled by those that have a big head and want things their way. We certainly don’t bite. This blog is open to both ends of the spectrum and it is that element that made Griz’s blog such a pleasant place to visit. I think she rocks. I would like some other topics discussed on this blog. Things that people have been either afraid to discuss or are timid about discussing. One that may come up in the near future, would be Gray Charles. Does everyone think he has dissapeared? Well, In my opinion, he is alive and well. He has not been on a vacation or off the boards/blogs at all. I think he goes to bed with a mouse in his hand. We aren’t afraid to hear both sides of the story of what exactly happened when he had his infamous ending *not* and how people were treated by him. How he treated Taylor. Inquiring minds want to know.

I also believe in Taylor Hicks. I don’t think he’s perfect by any means and I don’t WANT him to be! I just happen to admire him and his ambition, his musical gift, his tenacity…his ability to make me smile with just one look and listen of him singing Brown eyed Handsome Man…He’s mover and shaker. He knows what he wants and goes after it. He doesn’t brag or expect anything he’s not willing to give back. He gave BACK music to millions of people and he’s still doing it.
jeanni…you are right. (BTW…when I read your post, I felt like it was ME writing it…it fooled me and I saw that it was you…hee hee) I think the fact that Taylor is so musically gifted, makes him have this ability to do just about anything he wants in the field. When you are a prodigy…it is all open to you. He can probably learn to play any instrument…but, has preferred the harp, the guitar and the keys on occasion…but, his most precious instrument is his voice. Alot of people don’t realize that a voice is an instrument. It is the most beautiful of all instruments. Those that are lucky enough to make music from their own bodies to allow it to flow within…are blessed people. The harp is probably the next little projection of his voice. Therefore, he carries it with him…and enjoys it so much.
Just like once…I heard this man with the most beautiful voice…and he could whistle like an angel. It was magnificent. This beautiful strong perfectly pitched whistling that blew my mind…the man sang opera…he was working in a convenient store. *remember jeanni?* well, he was a prodigy.
This is what I know I have been trying to say about Taylor. So many, including those that have to spew the hatred about Taylor/then turn around and lust over him…haha…don’t realize. THEY DON’T GET IT! Never have. What the rest of us have gotten is that he has been discovered. That was ALL that it took. Now, when doors open for him…in any direction, he finds ease in going thru that door…NEW DOORS…Different doors…he is not afraid…he is excited and yet…he continues to let the fans have some of the good stuff that we love and that is his music. Those that have complained, that have begged, will probably run out an buy his CD and crave it…but, come online and cut it down. hahahaha! Taylor doesn’t care, he is living his dream. He is gonna continue to live his dream…he is a done deal…and will continue making deals…if he ends up on the silver screen…so be it. I will love that. ELVIS DID IT…I love watching the old Elvis movies and they mostly sucked…he is a legend.

I agree with what you said SS. If you care about someone and want to see them succeed then you would treat that person with respect. I’m not saying you have to agree with everything that person does but it does mean that you give them the room they need to do what makes them happy IMO.
SS to answer your question I have no idea what happened to GC or if he lingers in the background. LOL I liked the GC blog at first and especially loved the audioblogs there I never really got into posting there. The site just wasn’t a match for me but it was certainly a great site for some who like to have the music discussions. I personally like to listen to a song, feel it’s rhythm and listen to the lyrics and just let it move me. I hate to intellecutalize a song because it makes me lose the joy of it and this is why I never enjoyed the discussions there much. I also didn’t like to pick apart the business aspect of Taylor’s career because I have always believed that is for him ONLY. I believe after JRecords let that blog owner go he became a little unhinged and a lot of chaos followed. This is just my opinion about it all from what I observed and what I talked to other people about.
CBB I think you’re right about a lot of doors openning for Taylor now. I’m excited to see Taylor in Grease and think it would be really fun if he someday decided to do a movie.
CBB,BHG, Well said, I enjoy Taylor as a mucician/performer he lights the stage up and everyone around him feels his love of music. I don’t by any means of the word think he is perfect, I am not so why would I have that expectation of others. Doors have been opening for him with a big welcome mat. He has made many wise choices to get to where he wants to be and I believe he has the staying power for many years to come and look foward to enjoying the ride where ever it make take me.

As you know, I make no secret of my admiration and respect for Taylor! I’ve never thought of him as perfect nor want him to be (repeating myself)..I’m just one of those SP fans who enjoys Taylor, all aspects of him. There’s nothing wrong in that, I doubt he would find fault, he likes having fans who appreciate him and his music and whatever else he shares with the fans. I love his voice, his harp playing, his ability on stage, both on solo tour and in Grease. I like it he was born in my hometown, so sue me! Joking.
Have always had a lot of respect for Taylor. From where I sit, he has always set goals which I really admire. A person who aims at nothing is 100% sure to hit it. He consistantly makes more opportunities than he finds.
Most artists are in it just for the money. Of course this is one vital aspect of the business. However I truly believe that he’s vested in his own worth and comprehends the value and importance of his fans. This could be the reason why he struck me like no artist ever has. The connection is there and I’ll always be a fan and support whatever choices he makes

Hello All….
What I find troubling and disturbing today, are the ones on a certain blog (Orphans) who blame everyone else for their shortcomings and their mistakes in life? For the comments they publish on a public blog or fan site? For their unfounded accusations and also, for their denial for what they are accountable for. A friend sent me some comments from a blog (Orphans) and it seems Bluzkat (a regular there) makes comments she claimed are factual, they were NOT…and it has to do with me and Cbb in fact. Surprising? No, not at all.
For the record, I didn’t manufacture the comments I post here or anywhere else for that matter. I merely copied them, because it was “news.” I think all blogs report news and some of it is not factual and i would never repeat it. However, my quoting a message from Orphans was from the source itself, before it was apparently deleted by the Orphans blog owner of unknown origin I might add, not that ANY blog owner is required to give that information out, they are not, as far as I know?
As for the message I quoted here, I didn’t know it had been later deleted, because I don’t post there and would never want to attempt to, I have no interest in that blog unless my screen name becomes the center of untruths, such as Bluzkat dismissing her own blame for what she does, which has nothing to do with ME personally. She wrote in a message that both Cbb and I were the owners of a blog, this one in fact? While I have certainly thought about a blog, I wouldn’t have the Internet knowledge to own one, much less to run it, LMAO. There’s the answer, we don’t own one at present, even in jest.
Having said that, I enjoy this blog and have no plans on not posting here nor the news on Taylor Hicks and what goes on in his fan base. The news from Orphans of which Bluzkat posted, would certainly be considered fan “news”….ONLY because Bluzkat, as everyone knows, posted a “confession” out of the blue, shocking in its content, to those who know of her. Yet her excuse was “black mail”, that was scary. I can’t imagine what or who would try that nor the reasoning behind it? Makes little sense to me, knowing the laws that surround that kind of thing? But, that’s not my concern.
Nevertheless, most know Bkat, because she has a website which she states is due to Taylor Hicks and his name is connected solely for her “projects” as in charity and, etc., so I don’t consider that a secret of any sort, since she also admitted to owning a domain name for which just happens to be the name of Taylor’s record business. Most odd I think, but she was very public about it on many fan sites including THHQ. While this IS her apparent business, it becomes interesting to his fans, because she advertises it on his fan sites. So yes, that includes all Taylor Hicks fans having knowledge of it, myself included.
A while back, when the SP convention was about to happen in Birmingham, AL, BKat and many others were in a very heated debate on Idol Stalker, another blog of which I had not previously visited. Obviously, the topics were interesting to the SP, because they posted there, hundreds of them. One of them was Tayfan1, a well known fan of Taylor’s. She made her points and they were well taken, she wasn’t alone, but she and Bkat did have a debate online and on that blog. It’s there for anyone to read in the archives. BKat was on the defensive with Tayfan1, accusations were flying. Bkat also had a heated back and forth thing with KOPS (Karen). Those messages were very revealing and yes, it was said by Karen with KOPS that no, one of Taylor’s charities wasn’t working with BKat and Karen provided an email of which she sent to the Idol Stalker (Jeanne) owner and also to BKat. So that in itself was very interesting and I believe set the record straight on the relationship BKat has had in the past with the main charity Taylor endorces. Link below –

Once again, as far as I can see, from the Taylor Hicks blogs I visit regularly, either posting there or lurking, the blog owners don’t give their formal name, only one of their screen names. I remember when one blog in particular was begun due to the adverse and negative agenda on MFOYA. This blog is still going strong and has some dedicated and interesting Taylor Hicks fans there, I enjoy it. I was accused of being the owner, “Chill”…:) I was also accused of being the owner of several more blogs, LMAO. Not true, never owned any blogs. Its just not done… that blog owners open the door to who they really are and who really cares? I don’t, I just enjoy those that are positive about Taylor and have no agenda’s toward trying to destroy him, his music, his career decisions nor his private nor personal life…even though almost EVERY fan site and blog talks about his life as we know it…those who constantly insult him publicly do not have my respect nor would I post there.
Orphans is a combination it would seem, (popular belief) of a mixed bag of disgruntled, jealous, manipulating, bored women. Some even who base their business ventures solely on TH name while dissing and embarrassing him online and in public. VERY strange. Others are part of the DAH brigade, she alone has been known to have MANY screen names, even joining TH fan sites to cause dissension, people know her names there, I do. She has blogs which are embarrassing and disrespectful to Taylor. We know who she supports and sorry to say, BKat, of whom said in her own words, that she supports this DAH and is “friends” with her, I find really odd and unsettling, due to her behavior and the fact that she’s based her business on the good name of Taylor Hicks. How strange is that? Biting the hand that feeds her? Way odd. So, whatever was quoted here by BKat or any other was quoted from their OWN words on the blog, Orphans or other blogs and or fan sites. IF they don’t want to be quoted, they shouldn’t write it. Sounds simple enough doesn’t it?
Apology to Tayfan1 if she was confused by Bkat, I can certainly understand why. There was nothing repeated that wasn’t in her own words. Sorry if that was confusing to her. I don’t have any argument with Tayfan1 nor any complaint. Just stating what she wrote and where. If she and BKat have come to an agreement, that’s up to them. Once more, anyone can check what I posted here…Tayfan1’s message was public and I posted it. I felt it was reverent to the message that BKat chose to reveal for ALL to READ. While I have my own doubts as to this BKat confession as being ALL and completely factually complete or not? Well, no, I don’t believe it was, but I think those who are knowledgeable in the justice system, realize that. Thanks for allowing me to post this here. I appreciate it. If you feel I’ve not been factual enough, ask and I’ll certainly provide the information as it IS public knowledge on a public blogs. Nothing I’ve written here is confidential, the people in question wrote it and published it on public blogs and fan sites. I’m just setting the record straight hopefully.

jeanni, you have every right to state your opinion and facts. I have also read all of the material that you are discussing. It is not private information but written on a blog on purpose for all to see and read. You can’t take back something of this nature. I think that someone probably wishes they never said anything, but that is the consequence. The deal is, what is done is done and it is too late to contradict what has been posted. Questions have surfaced and that is due in part by inconsistencies. I doubt people sit around and think about this obsurd post but it did happen and bizarre things are often a topic of interest. Too bad! Too late! Blaming YOU is pure manipulation. It is a shame that someone would do so many wrong things and tell the world and then blame others. That makes no sense at all. No one of a right mind would find this reasonable nor possible. Those that delight in their pursuit of chaos and deliver nothing can continue to twist the truth, as usual, but honestly, they don’t matter. They are full of opinions and manipulations yet that is the stone that they throw. It often seems like a sideshow. So, remember, the few that speak so loudly are but a few. If you saw the amount of hits that we get here, you would see that many read the truth here. Unless someone is without the ability to understand with intelligence, then they get what is going on. Don’t doubt that for a second.
I also find it amuzing that the interest in the ownership of this blog and not others is so important to them. I don’t even own this blog, I am the editor. The person that owns this blog is the salt of the earth. It is no one’s business and other blog owner’s are not running around opening up their personal information either. It is not anyone’s business and it is irrelevant. So say I.
