Is Simon Cowell worth $22,000 per minute?
WHAT has been long suspected about bad blood among the judges on “American Idol” over money was confirmed over the weekend.
Nigel Lythgoe, the former executive producer of “Idol,” says that Simon Cowell is earning $36 million a year from Fox for the show – far more than his counterparts, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson.
Jackson’s and Abdul’s “salary has never been advertised and Simon has been in Forbes which is why I am talking about it,” Lythgoe told an Australian newspaper.
“But there is always jealousy in every job.
“Why is he getting more than the other two judges? Because it is believed that he brings more to the table.”
Lythgoe, who quit the show at the end of last season to concentrate full-time on his own series, “So You Think You Can Dance,” believes Cowell is worth every penny that he’s paid.
“He has actually handled his negotiations quite brilliantly,” Lythgoe says.
Cowell’s negotiating strategy has been never to sign a contract for longer than 12 months.
“He’s only ever negotiated by the year,” Lythgoe said. “And now he is getting something like $22,000 per minute.”

BHG, No one is worth that type of money. He shows no compassion when he gives his opinion. You can get your point across without taking their self worth and dignity away. There is no reason for him to be so harsh on these kids, they are putting themselves out there and should be shown that maybe they aren’t the best but given credit for trying. When I do watch the show he always seems to have a look on his face when he is going to be harsh, I just hit the mute button don’t want to hear it.

I agree, NO One deserves that much money, except for Simon Cowell because he is so “bloody brilliant” I am being sarcastic of course. Think of all the good he could do in this world with that kind of money, maybe give 45 minutes of his paycheck to idol gives back and then he will be all over the tabloids for what a great guy he is. It really is unbelievable the amount of money some of these “celebrities” make.
Jersey I agree. I don’t know what Simon does that much better than Randy or Paula than make snarky and insulting remarks to the contestants. Randy Jackson has been in the music industry since the 1980’s. He was the bass player for the band Journey for 3 years and spent many years as an executive for Columbia and MCA records. Paula Abdul has been a dancer, choreographer and singer. It’s unbelievable that Simon is given paid so much more than they are.
Hepsabob I also agree with you. There is a lot he could do to help others with that much money and he’s still have lots and lots of money left for himself.
OMG That is absolutley crazy to get paid so much for putting others down. No way does he deserve to be paid that much and so much more than Randy and Paula is just nuts. At least Paula and Randy have been in the music business first hand. Paula was a very successful singer when she was out doing that. It just boggles my mind that so many children in America go without food, decent clothing and medical care and then people like Simon get that amount of money for doing nothing but putting people down.
Poetcindy,I totally agree with you with the way the ecomony is going for someone to make that much money insulting people is just wrong. I don’t care how generous he is, it isn’t enough. Harding working people are loosing their homes can’t feed their families it should be put back into our economy to help those less fortunate. Give him a token salary that is it, he has had his run, he doesn’t need it. The old saying the rich keep getting richer and the poor keep getting poorer, how sad.

OMG…Thanks for putting his salary in minutes. This is so ridiculous. Just think for a moment how much freakin’ money the American Idol show makes. Ok…I paused on that one. I am totally and absolutely disenchanted with the whole thought of American Idol. Simon comes on all cocky with his nippies showing, manipulating himself, above all the rest…waiting for America to pick out of the chosen few that THEY wanted in the top. Waiting for the winner so that he can pounce on them immediately with the recording contract that they HAVE TO TAKE.
I bet many have gotten proposals or offers from many record companies along the way. I remember. Some even dropped out when they realized that they were going to be owned…lock stock and barrel. They had been hit on by either entertainment lawyers, record labels/companies, other singer/songwriters and they flew the coop. Taylor was too smart for them. He found a loop hole…had to suffer for while, but got free. Thank God~!
I so agree that the money should be used for charity. Simon even walked around in Africa or wherever they were…and tried to act like he cared…I bet he ran and washed his hands real quick and drank a stiff one. He is too good. Some people don’t make in one year what he makes in a frickin’ minute. BLAH…..I gotta go breathe.
One more thing. When I posted about the 50 mil? It was said on Fox that it was at least that much which did not include other little things he is paid for. So, it is possibly MORE than that!~Now, I know that I need to go breathe.

CBB, Talk about signing your life away that contract is crazy. Taylor must have some sharpe lawyers to find a loop hole to get him out of it. I am so glad he is on his own. I wonder if any part of the contract still applies that they could use any way they want, or is he out of it completely. I don’t know how all those leagal things work. I had read a section of the American Idol contract a few years ago. It was horrible. The initial philosophy is that if a person goes from waiting tables or playing small gigs, such as weddings or proms, that it is about vulnerability and desperation. When these young artists have passion and desire and have been given the chance to become famous and are exiled from the reality of what they are up against, they often bite.
Clearly, the contract should be considered illegal or unethical, as some in the record business have stated that these artists are under duress. Not just because of the contract language but because of the time alloted to them to sign. Again, the factor of dreams coming true, plays a huge part in what the wannabe will do to get to that place that offers fame and fortune. Sometimes, if it looks to good to be true, it is.
I feel that Taylor was unfairly treated and actually used as a token for further contestants, that if you don’t do what we want and you don’t sign with both the label and the management, then we hurt you or we can ruin you. We have the power. We won’t promote, we will actually use the contract as it reads. The contract allows for them to actually discredit you, defame you, chew you up and spit you out,but they pretty much abandoned Taylor. They stabbed him in the back.
Did they make their point? The answer is NO! They ruined their own show. They disrespected the audience. They made asses out of themselves.
Will they pay? The answer is YES! They already have.

CBB that contract is ridiculous. Those people had to sign their lives away just to get a shot to do what they want. It made me so angry to see what they did to Taylor. Sabotage because he wouldn’t allow them to be in control. I am so happy he made the decisions he did in his career. I know it was the hard way to go about it and much slower but I believe that Taylor going indie was the best possible thing. I don’t think he could have ever been happy being Simon’s puppet. Artistic and monentary control is what he earned by taking the slow route. He wanted a musical career that will last throughout his life, not to be a flash in the pan artist. Smart smart guy.
SS I think AI has already begun their decline. Nigel Lithgoe when he was with AI was the most arrogant man. I remember him making fun of the people who watch his show and being extremely cocky. People were very angry because of the blackballing of Taylor. It became obvious that the show was a farce and the votes that we as viewers put in didn’t mean anything. In the end they would promote who they want to regardless. I remember his response was it didn’t matter because even if they lost a lot of their audience they’d still be the #1 show on TV. I was always taught never to bite the hand that feeds you. Simon is another one who thinks he’s above displaying common decency. He doesn’t deserve $22,000 for being an arrogant asshole IMO.

BHG, I truly believe that Taylor read his contract and thought about it long and hard. I think he took the leap of faith in going for the victory. One person that acted as the spokesperson for the “SOUL PATROL”, talked to Taylor and reported to the boards. She asked Taylor if he really really wanted to win or did he want 2nd place. Many knew of AI’s and TPTB’s tactics and strategies. He told her, “I want to win”!!!!! So, we were ready. He had already signed the contract. So, he was probably without all the knowledge of what lay ahead but, don’t think for a moment that Taylor did not know that he had a fight on his hands. I think he thought there was a way out. I also think he got an attorney quickly to help him begin the journey of finding his way out. Taylor needed the victory and he got it. I think he figured: To hell with the rest of it as that can be dealt with later.

I think Tay had the loop hole worked out before he signed the contract. I know he had his contract modified, before he signed it. One of the things the contract prohibited was performing during the waiting period and the start of the show. Since performing was Tay’s job, they modified the contract so he could perform during the waiting period.
And the industry was so shocked at what they did to Kelly Clarkson, that the contract was somewhat changed through the courts. She had to sue them to get it modified.
Bet the control over image is still in there – and bet Tay can’t tell us all that happened without a penalty.
You bet Tay was made an example of – even Constantine admitted that.
So a lot of Simon’s extra money, is promotional money he’s receiving on all the other idols.
Does Simon deserve the money – well I wouldn’t pay him that, but the market and the show seem to think he’s worth it.
Part of why they do – is he came up with the idea. So part of the recompense is for the intellectual property rights. At least until he sold them.
I’m just grateful that Tay is out from under, or at least I think he is.
And AI definitely broke with their audience by the way they treated Tay, and I don’t think they will exist much longer.
And I for one hope they don’t let the door hit them in backside on the way out.

Taylordays, Agree that he probably had the loop holes worked out before he signed. I had heard he was the only one that had ever gotten modifcations to their contracts before signing. He was never going to play the game their way, he was going to do it his way regardless of the outcome, thus no promotion or airplay. That may have been the loop hole that got him out, he got nothing from them just the CD that he was rushed to produce, he did a great job promoting himself and still does, he has got good business sense. He has made good choices to keep his name out there in a positive light. I only see things getting better for him down the road.

I am glad to hear about the modification. However, I don’t think that they thought he would win. When did he sign the contract? During what period or portion of the show? Anyone know?
I think that Taylor helped Elliot. Being wise beyond his years, Taylor was an unsuspected thorn in their side. One man, against TPTB, to disthrown their polished performances of helping the young unknown artists to achieve fame and fortune. Taylor is a Maverick.
Those that did sign away their careers to TPTB, are still puppets. Some, IMO, don’t have the intellect to escape and/or are afraid to go out there on their own. Knowing that TPTB are a cradle to those that are willingly giving up the largest portion of profit in record sales, they know that without their support, that they would be zip. Fini.

Wow, lots of information today! This is one topic that stirs up the AI dust bucket girls. I believe Simon makes FAR MORE than his so called reported salary. I read FORUNE too. Simon Cowell has been involved in AI from the beginning. Meaning he gets those kick backs, you bet he does and percentages from EVERYTHING.
As for the AI contract? That thing is criminal. Owning a person forever? BS. The, AI owns likeness, body and soul, can insult contestant no matter whether true or not? WTH? Would I allow my child to sign a contract like this? HELL NO.
Taylor was able to get out of that debackle contract with the label, because Clive Davis / Arista / Sony BMG, gave him VERY little promotion, they screwed him, because he wouldn’t allow them to make that big a percentage because he refused to sign with 19E and he also wrote and co-wrote some of the songs on his CD. However, because of that, Taylor’s lawyer could get him out of that HORRIBLE contract with that snake Clive. I can’t say I have this from the horses mouth, its called common sense and logic.

He found a “restrictive” document that makes contestants’ “careers … literally not their own.”
Essentially, their careers are owned by 19 Entertainment, which produces the series. Perhaps most significantly, Simon Fuller, the show’s creator, also gets half of the money brought in by those signed to 19.

Pop Idol creator Simon Fuller has dropped his £100m copyright suit against SIMON COWELL after reaching a settlement that sees him become a joint partner in the hit ITV show The X Factor.
The two men are expected to announce later today that they have reached an out-of-court settlement in the case, which was sparked by Fuller’s claim that the acid-tongued star of Pop Idol had stolen key parts of the format for The X Factor.
COWELL and Fuller, who collaborated closely on a series of hit shows on both sides of the Atlantic before falling out earlier this year, are also understood to be working on a new programme idea, and on a possible new series of Pop Idol.
As part of today’s deal, Cowell has agreed to appear in the next series of American Idol, the Pop Idol spin-off that has become the Rupert Murdoch-owned Fox network’s biggest hit.
COWELL, who had made it clear he would no longer appear on American Idol if Fuller pursued his copyright case, is also understood to be taking an executive producer’s role on the show.
Fuller’s company 19 TV, creator of both Pop Idol and American Idol, launched legal action over a year ago against Cowell, his firms Simco and Syco, and The X Factor producer FremantleMedia.
The legal showdown had been expected to begin in the high court last Wednesday, but was adjourned twice before being indefinitely postponed.
The progress of the case has been closely watched by the broadcasting and legal professions because it would have created a legal precedent on the extent to which format ideas can be legally protected.

Fox announced today that it has reached a deal that will keep American Idol and sharp-tongued judge Simon Cowell on the air for at least three more seasons beyond the smash-hit reality show’s upcoming fifth season.
Last week, The New York Times reported that COWELL had been unhappy about the fact that for the first time since American Idol began four seasons ago, his Sony BMG label would not have the right to sign the eventual winner and runner-up of the show’s upcoming fifth season. “Simon is not interested in making a star for another label,” one of Cowell’s close associates had told The Times.
As a result, although Cowell had willingly given away American Idol 5’s signing rights as part of three-season contract extension he signed before 2003’s American Idol 3, he was reportedly now seeking to have them included in what the paper termed a “delicate and hugely expensive renegotiation” that would also include an extension for additional seasons.
In addition to suggesting that he might leave the Fox show, Cowell was also said to be threatening to sell another network an American version of The X Factor, a Cowell-created British reality talent show that currently ranks as Britain’s most popular television program.
However further complicating the situation was the fact that X-Factor itself was also the subject of disagreement. Idol creator Simon Fuller and his 19 Entertainment company had sued X-Factor producers Fremantle Media (19’s Idol production partner) and Simco and Syco (Cowell’s production company) for $170 million in Britain, allegedly that X-Factor — which Fuller and 19 Entertainment have no role in — was a rip-off of the Idol format that Fuller originally created.
Last week, the parties postponed the court case (which had finally come to trial in London’s High Court) indefinitely as they attempted to agree on an out-of-court settlement. A settlement of the lawsuit was announced today, and although the terms of the agreement remain confidential, BBC News is reporting that the settlement involves Fuller and 19 receiving “a minority interest” in X-Factor as well as “other specified rights” in return for Cowell’s agreement to sign an American Idol extension.
Last Thursday, Daily Variety had reported that according to the UK’s BroadcastNow website, the deal was believed to involve Fuller and 19 receiving 20% of X-Factor’s profits in return for Cowell receiving an even bigger percentage — between 30 and 40% — of American Idol’s profits (in addition to getting to sign the show’s winner, Cowell was already reportedly receiving about $8 million a season per the terms of his current Idol contract.)
“I am happy that we have been able to sort out our differences and find an amicable solution to our problems,” Cowell stated in a statement released to after today’s settlement announcement. “This means we can go forward and concentrate on working together for the next five years on developing other successful projects. Simon and I have shown just how well we work together in recent years. We have remained friends throughout this dispute and I think that it was this friendship that allowed us to settle our differences”
“When Simon and I are focused and working closely together we are capable of great things and I’m looking forward to us delivering more hits around the world,” Fuller added in the same statement.
Fox’s new American Idol deal — jointly announced along with CKX, Inc. (19 Entertainment’s new corporate parent), FremantleMedia, SonyBMG, and Cowell — calls for the companies to produce at least four more American Idol seasons, beginning with the fifth Idol season that Fox will premiere in January 2006. The deal also calls for the “automatic renewal” renewal of up to two more Idol editions assuming that the show achieves “certain readily obtainable minimum ratings certain minimum ratings in the fourth and potential fifth years of the deal.” Should both renewals be executed, the agreement will take American Idol through its tenth season.
As part of the deal, Fox also announced that it had reached a new five season agreement with Cowell that will keep him on Idol through at least American Idol 9. As part of the joint agreement, Cowell’s Sony BMG label will continue to be the designated record label for winning American Idol contestants — a right that Fox, not Sony, will pay 19 Entertainment $5 million a season for Sony BMG to maintain. In return, 19 Entertainment will begin receiving a larger percentage (a 4% royalty increase) of the recorded music sales revenue of future American Idol artists.

Simon Cowell and AI are in collaboration with AI / 19E and whomever is under that management will OWE them their ALL and EVERYTHING. So, do they promote the one’s THEY have in the AI sweathouse? Ah yes, that brings up the question of whose (they sign) at the top of those TOP 40 Charts doesn’t it? The ones where AI / 19E) make most of the singers income percentage? DOES anyone come to mind? Whose signed with BOTH the American Idol umbrella of labels AND 19E? Have you checked the TOP 40 by now. It’s not Katherine McPhee, she was dropped by her AI label and she fired 19E, but then again, she’s no longer in the TOP 40, strange? No. Do you see a familiawr name? Yeah, him. The one who can’t even tour on his own but has his CD spun on certain radio stations over 100 times a day, how is that? Hmmmm?
Jeanni, Wow interesting articles on Simon, what a snake. So glad Taylor is out from under them. He is his own boss now no one can control what he does. I think Taylor had this all planned out from the begining he wasn’t going to let them control him. As far as the contract thing didn’t Taylor try to get most of the top 24 to rebel against it but most caved in and signed but he held out, I think that is what I remembered reading at the time maybe I am wrong.
That someone you speak of isn’t he kind of out on a limb now that Clive is gone? He was all wrapped up with him controlling his every move. Haven’t heard much from that camp lately.

The modified contract would have been signed at the point Tay knew he’d be going to Hollywood.
Think the top 12 sign again, but not sure, that first one may be all inclusive.
What Tay tried to get the top 12 to renegotiate, was the weekly compensation – if it was more than that – don’t remember Tay saying so in his book.
Having read that first contract though, believing the secrecy clause didn’t change much – it might cost him a pretty penny, to tell us any more.
Loved the articles, Jeanni. What little I watched Season 6 and 7, which was only a couple of weeks for both – saw a lot of tension on the show. Guess I know why now.
Not so sure the tensions this year have as much to do with Simon’s salary as it is about the increased power and control this brokered deal has left him with.
Unless 3 people buck him, Simon now has the ONLY vote that means anything on AI. Thinking the new judge will not buck much.
Bet Randy isn’t happy having Simon as his new executive producer. This next season will either be deadly dull or EXPLOSIVE.

That is sad that they have given him so much power. I kind of thought the reason they brought the new judge on was so it would be her and Simon against Randy and Paula seeing which team could sway the vote. With Simon having so much power I wonder how the auditions have gone. Season 8 should be interesting with all the changes.

Yeah, there are SO many articles out there on Simon Cowell, whew! Theres also a great deal the public doesn’t know about him too, not that I want to. I thought he was just daing one woman, but maybe not?
Jeanni, I also thought Simon has been dating I think her name is Terri Seymour for about 5 years. Know they have had some issues with him going out on her, but they always seem to get back together.
I think him being a little bit of a mystery is a good thing, I know he has a soft side but the nasty side is what he chooses to show.

Thanks for the info! Honestly, my first impression of seeing Simon Cowell on AI (I was new to AI) was that he had this delicious accent, he appeared cultured, elegant and charming. Then when the season began and I saw the obvious dislike of Taylor, I thought..What the heck is wrong with this man? Is he blind and can he not hear? LMAO.
I think Simon is defensive and negative towards something he’s wrong about and he WAS wrong about Taylor. I don’t mind his “acting” on AI, nor even the fact that he can’t seem to committ to ANY woman, let alone this young woman whose been WITH him for five years? Checking all these (Taylor Hicks) google alerts today, I just sat here thinking..”The person whose writing all these tacky, senseless, rediculious blogs, making fun of, insulting Taylor and his fans, why is this person doing this?”…I know who runs these blogs, she admitted it on Orphans.
Her so called reasons for doing this WON’T WASH with me. Just think how much publicity she would give HER IDOL if she spent ALL that time, energy and snark, aimed AT HIM and HIS fans? The owner of these blogs is NOT a fan of TH’s and yet she joins TH fansites! Then she goes where she KNOWS she will feel right at home and blows off with her excuses. My goodnes..I really can’t understand it, it’s the most stupid thing I’ve ever read and seen. Okay..just thought I would give an opinion here. I just read thru all the posts. I have to say that I hope that people still don’t think that my sister and I own this blog! It is getting annoying and OLD and I imagine that BHG is tired of it. OBVIOUSLY! I do apologize for any harassment that may have followed me. Seems that is the usual.
I had great plans to open a blog or forum. I had picked out a name that was sooooo cute…and now it belongs to a close friend of mine. NOT MY SISTER! *sigh* And…I do realize also that many heard me say that on an OPEN forum. I have nothing to hide. But…the case is…I did not open one and do not own one. OVER AND OUT! Things change, duh?
I have found out some things. I will call this person a “middle man”. This “mm” is playing BOTH sides. I have pm’s to prove it! I sent many people this information. PROVING…that this mm is trying to piss off both sides. This is someone that I will not name (at this time, if she doesn’t piss me off anymore) and is not anyone that I will correspond with ever again.
I will state this for fact: I never ran a background check on anyone and I never called anyone nor wrote to Taylor’s family or friends. Simple and clear. Emails and pms can be changed…it is something that someone pointed out to me. Simple as pie. This mm was using false information about me and my sister to sit back and watch while the other side exploded and pointed their finger at us. We had done nothing. However, the mm had written MOI months ago and had stated something very similar to what I was being bashed for. Looks like someone needs to check into someone else’s backyard.
In the state that I live in…it is a criminal offense to run a background check on someone without their written and notorized permission. Plus…you have to show identification and a social security card. I had a background check done on me when I worked for a friend’s company because we used company cars and the insurance provider requested that ALL that wanted a car had to do this, therefore I am well informed or at least that was the way it was a few years ago. NEVER have I run a background check on anyone on any forum or board or blog. Last I will say about this subject…however, I have no doubts and JMO, but I truly believe that someone else might have…or they knew an awful lot. Even though I believe that this person backstabbed me and lied thru her teeth, it doesn’t suprise me one bit…no lost friendship because there never was one. END of friggin’ story! Goodbye Middle Man!
Also…I noticed that blog about TMS closing. The bashers there are offending someone that I realized was a nice person. Why are people so cruel? What is their point? Do they get off on this? Then, they are worse than those they point fingers at. GROW UP!
I agree jeanni…it is just so continual in a negative way. None of the people that I post with on any forum or blog ever act like Taylor is perfect. We are positive about him but we are also realistic. Those that demand things or talk bad about him are not fans, IMO. They are just selfish and self centered. He would never give one thought to anyone that bashes him and he would consider those that do…Nothing more than a waste of time. They influence him NOT. Know why I know that? He spoke of his “diehard fans”…He also uses the phrase, “Soul Patrol” and he is very smart and wise. He knows. He gets it. Those that continue to write negative things about Taylor have real issues. Not legitimate issues but are troubled people. They need help! That kind of person would fit into the thread about stalkers. Taylor has been stalked since he got on AI. He handles it well.
Lastly, I am so happy to have the friends that I have. Those that TRUST me and that I trust. I don’t stab people in the back…nor do I sabatoge. I often tell it like it is and therefore I give my opinions, state some facts occasionally and tell the truth and I do what is legal.
I like the fact that I have made ammends with some…enjoy their company.
I like the fact that I speak my mind and my latest irritation on a blog was not centered at the blog owner but toward one poster in paticular who is nothing more than a troll/chroll/hater whatever you want to call her…and the other…a biotch. Clear to me who she is and have known for quite some time. LMAO! It is too much fun watching her play and pretend to be someone else as she thinks she is soooo smart. LMAO again. Things seem to be very quite now and that is a good thing. The attacks were just terrible. I don’t agree with the content of that blog, but I did feel bad for HW/Hanna who lost her brother and was being ripped. The first year after a lost is the hardest, one has to get through all the events and just seemed to me each time an event came up she became emotional and some had no compassion for her. That is really sad to not understand that the woman is grieving for her loss. We all grieve differently and their is no set time line for that. I know nothing about her but can feel her pain, and it saddens me that folks can be so cruel.
I can’t imagine that young girl with Simon, maybe she feels it payback that he helped her get started. I know I would not be in a relationship that allowed one to see others, thats nuts.

Is anyone keeping up with this Jennifer Hudson tragedy? I think she has really had a hard time of it, for quite some time. This is just horrid news.
SS, I heard about that last night. Her Mom and brother, what a tragedy and her young nephew is missing. Things were coming together for her in both her proffesional and personal life and now this. Just newly engaged and starting to plan her future, now she must plan funerals, how very sad.
I haven’t heard anything today as far as her nephew or if anyone they are looking for that could be responsible for this. I’ll have to listen to the news later tonight.

DAH? She wants to be accepted there? Why? Everyone knows about her negative blog activities (no matter her opinion of those blogs, I find them tacky and inappropriate). Well, from reading her messages as Taylor44/BonJovi (and other screen names),she was a member of a TH fansite that I subscribe to, so I suppose that gave her insight into how I feel about chrolls, like her. To add to the negative, she has blogs which to me, are very negative about Taylor and yep, his fans. She even did a blog on me, I believe twice! She quoted messages from Asses? That was nothing but comments about ASSES blog thread. She likes it when the person she talks about can’t respond to her rant. HA. Well, I am commenting, she took my messages out of context. I’ve never had my lawyer CALL or WRITE her, silly woman! However, since she infringed on my privite and personal life, yeah, everything that has something to do with that would involve my lawyer, who keeps an eye on things like that. I guess you could say he’s been successful on my behalf.
How can DAH really think that TH’s fans would like the silliness and negative content of her blogs or enjoy it? I’ve heard from a lot of TH fans and NO, they don’t like it. In defense of the fansite where I learned of her screen names? They had the good sense to ban her. Its my opinion that IF she really was sincere about getting along with Taylor’s fan base, then its obvious what she can do about it? How about ridding the internet of those blogs of hers? Great idea? I think so! If she doesn’t have them, then there’s nothing to complain about, right? Right. If she’s a CD fan, which she is, then go to HIS fan sites and donate her time and energy. Good idea? To me? Yes. Sounds simple, but that’s not what she really wants is it? If it was, she would have done it LONG ago and she hasn’t. So the impression will remain – IF and when she does something to change the impression she gives, those blogs say otherwise Dah, delete’um. That’s my opinion.
As for me, there is no conspiracy here! According to those who think they can read, they apparently take everything out of context! There are people within the fanbase that spread rumors, one can believe them or not. I don’t believe anything till I see it myself. He is an entrepreneur just that, believe he lacks skill in the area of music. Some entrepreneurial ventures fail and others will be successful. He got lucky, he picked a good venture. Anyone else in music field could match Simon’s presence. Hey they’d even work for $10,000 a minute.

Elvis was sexy and if he had been my generation I might have gotten into him more. He is very sexy though, always was…EXTREMELY. Now, when these men dance around and parade around a thrust their hips and do the hunch punch grab my butt kinda dance…THEY WANT WOMEN TO LUST OVER THEM…if anyone thinks differently…please don’t tell me. I imagine the comparison of the Elvis photos probably freaked him out…now that would be appropriate…not that he hated it…because it FREAKED ME OUT…when I saw it. The reason, is because he looks so much like him, he is so much like him, he looked up to Elvis, several reasons. I was shocked is a better word. jeanni called me and told me to look…I was just amazed and still am at the similarities. These videos that were just put up…are evident of the likeness even in persona, style, OUCH…hotness!

Hope everyone is having a good day! Just wanted to say that I’ve enjoyed all the comments! As for the Elvis comparison? Well, let me say, I agree with CBB on that..I actually am not a big fan of Elvis, however..What was fascinating about him (to me) was that he was SO gifted musically. His being so southern, the humble attitude, even though he reeked with confidence and the sexual tension he showered on the audience was..unlike ANY performer I’d ever seen…UNTIL..Taylor Hicks! Thats what they shared and I for one have not been as bowled over by ANY performer like Taylor. Having seen him in concert, both on the stage and in clubs, brought about this realization, HE’S SPECIAL. I DO prefer Taylor WAY over Elvis, no doubt about it.
So, that’s my take on that subject. Taylor HAS everything, which so many of the singers today DO NOT HAVE. Taylor is easy to admire and to desire, he’s remarkable! I sure wouldn’t waste my time if I weren’t a big fan of his, I am. I doubt seriously that will ever change, he’s just too much fun and the real deal. Color me hooked.

Agree with you! Taylor is one of the BEST looking men I have ever seen. I had NO idea how remarkably handsome he really was until I stood in front of him, mot more than a foot away, at Smiths Olde Bar in Atlanta…when he was there with Limbo after the second AI concert in Atlanta. I was taken completely by surprise and he left me breathless and actually, speechless! He is VERY handsome, sweet and his voice and musical skill is amzing,k plus he’s got a great sense of humor! His persona and charisma left me feeling light headed, HA. But, I wasn’t alone in that feeling, the entire room was filled with electricity, which came from the man himself. *sigh*

Jeanni, When I saw Taylor there were three in front of me the place was standing only no seating, at one point he went across and hit everyone’s hand. I kinda put mine out, he leaned forward and said give me your hand. I did and he said how’s it going? He then said tiny hands and smiled. My daughter was with me and she said Mom that was awesome. His eyes were so intense, his eyes remind me of my hubby’s only his are blue. That was my only experience with him but it was nice. Really enjoyed the show that night, can’t wait to see him again.

I think Taylor’s eyes are beautiful and yeah, intense, intereted, soft, loveable…all of it. HA. I’ve had the plasure to shake hands with him too 
quite a few times, let me with the impression he has strong warm hands, very comforting..especially since one time I had the experience, mine were freezing (Huntsville) and I said to him..when he reached for mine (both)..Sorry my hands are so cold Taylor, he winked and took my hands in a very warm hold and said..”Good to see you again and now they aren’t dsrlin”…Sighhhhhhh. HA. I also had it on video, but that one’s missing from UTube, which was annoying! As it was on there for a while, shoot! I think we all swooned, when he came outside wearing jeans, black T-shirt and a gorgeous full length cashmere overcoat. Oh Lord, he looked handsome!

Let’s face it ladies, we are all hooked on Tay. What is that song? “Nobody does it better”? That’s the way I look at it. I enjoy that Taylor has brought alot of women back into the music world.
To lose music sure would make life dull. I appreciate his love for children and bringing my son in to see him was so inspiring to him. We have guitars and he has been trying and forget the karoke machine, it is hidden for a while. hahahaha! I do love that Taylor puts on a clean show for the kids and yet we see the sexyside in our eyes. Now, that is hard to pull off. Something for everyone.

Hey Everybody, Gone yesterday…but, have to say I agree with everything said.
Jeanni, I never did ask you what you thought of Elvis…although we used to watch his old movies. I don’t think we ever had any records, did we? My mother was hooked…as a matter of fact, I remember her walking around the kitchen singing, “You ain’t nothin’ but a hound dog…” LMAO…THEN, there were the fantastic Christmas songs. I do hope that Taylor puts out a Christmas Album. He sang some of the most beautiful songs during Christmas…two years ago? or last year? Oh well, he was great.
I just saw that a White SUV which was the suspected car that was being looked for in the case of Jennifer Hudson’s nephew…was found with a body in it…no one is saying whether it is or not…and Jennifer was the one that identified her mother and brother…already in such a state of shock, I am sure…so, can you only imagine if this is the young boy? Heaven’s…why are people so mean…sick? This man that they have in possible connection with these murders, was on parole and is already incarcerated…so, at least the most probable suspect is in jail already.
The News Reporter that was found after being severely beaten up…and then later died…beautiful blonde…gorgeous smile, well, I can tell you that in today’s world…especially after this…if anyone messes with a news reporter, like Caroline Lyders…or anyone else and is fixated on them…like any celebrity…things might become really bad for them…LIKE JAIL!
The Internet is often looked into by law officers. I talked to a lady in a nearby town that is famous for catching sexual preditors trying to hit on young people…she is GOOD to know. I will go directly to her if I have any problem at all. I can tell you that the days of the bullies on the internet are over. Thank Goodness~! My prayers go out to Jennifer’s family. Being a celebrity is not always so good in certain ways…I think Jennifer had moved them into this home if I am not mistaken. Not far enough away, obviously… from their past.

On the Tay/Elvis thing, have to agree with you all. Taylor is better to me than Elvis, but the tension prior to him taking the stage is the same, as is the pure joy he brings to the stage. One big difference, though is there is NO Colonel Parker in his life. Consequently, he will be able to let the muses take him where he needs to go, and we will be gifted with an even greater variety that is his talent. His type of genius comes about once in a generation. Am soooo grateful I’m here to see it.
He’s been wooing me for better than 2 years and fully expect to be wooed for the rest of my life.
On Jennifer Hudson, it was sad enough about the mother and brother, but adding the 7 year old, who was no doubt discovered this morning, makes me devastated. I sincerely hope Illinois reinstated the death penalty, because whoever did this, gave up his right to walk among us.
On the parole issue, yes indeed, they are monitored, and can be sent back to prison to fulfill the rest of their sentance, if they are found to have violated their parole.
Jeanni, My husband does have really nice eyes, that’s what first caught my eye with him. They are much like Taylor’s only light blue. I saw a kindness in his eyes I had never seen before, whenI look at Taylor I see that same kindness. Both have very intense eyes.
CBB, Taylordays, I hope the body they found in the trunk is not her nephew. He is just a baby my heart goes out to the whole family, such a tragedy.

Sorry to report that they have identified the body found in the family suv as Jennifer Hudson’s nephew, they said he had several gun shot wounds. Who could do that to a child, how could anyone hate that much to take three lives. Very, very sad.

I can’t imagine who would do that to a child or anyone else for that matter. I can’t imagine going through something like that. My heart goes out for her and all of her family and friends.
BHG, the more I think about it the sadder I get, I had read that the ex brother-in-law had been living at the family house and her mother had asked him to move out, maybe that didn’t sit well with him he was the first arrested but still not charged with anything yet. Who ever did this no mercy should be shown to them to take three lives just like that.
