Taylor Hicks at the Magic Bag in Detroit
2009 June 24
Last night Taylor Hicks put on the most amazing acoustic concert at the Magic Bag in Detroit, MI. Taylor along with Brian Less on the keyboard, John Kulinich on guitar, and Jason Crocker on bass put on a show that moved and wowed the audience that was lucky enough to attend. I have always loved the Taylor that rocks out on stage so I really didn’t think I’d want to see an entire acoustic set but after watching those videos and melting into a puddle on the floor I would so love Taylor to do an acoustic tour someday. I’ll keep that on my wishlist.
I envy anyone who was there. It must have been magical! I, too, would love to see an acoustic tour. While it’s exciting to watch him rocking out on the stage. Acoustic performances are so raw and intimate. It’s as if he were performing in your living room. (Another item for my wishlist!) Taylor’s voice is so amazing and emotional, he doesn’t need all the trappings! Give me Taylor, his guitar and harp any day. (oh yeah, and that smile that lights up a room!) That’s all I need to make me happy! It’s music to my ears.
BHG, Didn’t realize it was no video Monday night, I respect his request also. I watched all of them, Monday was my virgin cellcert and seeing the videos after I had listened to that wonderful show only increased the experience for me!!
JI
BHG, Was just told it was not Taylor’s request for no video it was The Magic Bags policy no video. I’m thinking if he didn’t want video he would have put up a blog post like he did in January. He did put up that the video ban was lifted. Just thought I’d let you know what I was told.
JI
Welcome Flower. I totally agree with everything you said.
Jersey you have a point. It the request wasn’t straight from him. I think I will put a couple up there. People need to see these!
BHG, I agree that the request was not from him. Others are struggling with the same thing they want to share the video’s they took that night, but don’t want to go against his wishes. I have been tweeting him asking him to just give us a tweet about the vid whether it was his request or not. We will see if he puts anything up about it, it would really help if he did.
Tthanks for putting the vids up they are wonderful!!!
JI
Great videos!!! So many of them to keep me busy. No matter what – if he performs with a big backup band or in a “simple and pure Taylor” setting he holds his audience captive. Something that no other artist COULD because they DON’T have what it takes. He does!
((SP)) I’m so glad you’re back. We so should have gone to this show..you were right. I just couldn’t have at this time.
Jersey I hope if someone has IAOK on video that they post it. I love that song so much and it brought me to tears listening on the cellcert. I would die if I saw the video.
BHG, I’ve been asking around about IAOK and The Distance so far no luck, I’ll keep looking.
SP, How are you, hope all is well, they are great videos!!!
JI
BHG, Just sent it e-mail to you isn’t it great!!!
JI
Thank you edjorg! I love this song! Taylor’s presentation is perfection.

BHG, Glad you decided to put it back up, wow, he was just perfection!!

I’m sure by now everyone has heard both Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson passed away today, so sad for their families.

Off Topic – MICHAEL JACKSON DEATH – Age 50
Michael Jackson died in LA this afternoon it was reported on all networks. He died of a cardiac arrest. Here’s one article. There are hundreds, see below –

BHG,
Thanks so much for these fabulous video’s of Taylor’s performance the other night. Simply amazing…brilliant…wonderful.
As for the Michael Jackson death, he led a very sad life. What a shock.
Losing Farrah was very sad to me, she was always one of my favorites.
Someone just put this up on twitter a pic of Taylor at the cubs game today:

Hehe, no mystery why OUAL is the first video BHG.
Agree with you JI, getting to re-see videos of the concert you just attended is pure joy.
Also helps cut through Woo amnesia. LOL
Have had that problem at some of my concerts too.
Thanks JI and BHG for the video of IAOK!
And good to see you (((Staying Power))) – always like to see your input.
Jersey, THANKS…Was he there to see the game? Just making sure I didn’t miss something else.
Is it just me…or is Taylor getting better and better looking? WOW!
Listen, I love the acoustic sound…damnation, his voice is so enchanting. I WISH he would do an acoustic album…I know he was always talking about an acoustic tour but…his voice just sounds so good…great…wonderful. I prefer it. I never thought I would, but it is so superb. It is sexy too.
Missed you all…hello to all…and welcome to the new posters…love everything you all have said.
I wonder about the video too. Well, just like at the concerts where they said so many times that you could not bring a camera and cameras were allowed…even at one concert, someone was told to stop and put down the camera…and Taylor told them that it was ok. It can be the venue. I do believe that we would have heard something from him about it if he did not want it. JMO.
I hope everyone is doing good…Thanks BHG for all the emails keeping me up on things…as you know, my life has been in an uproar. Let me give you a glimpse. You all probably know that my mother’s sister died. The funeral was awesome. Our senator got up to speak…and then, a sweet man that became her neighbor, 42. He became her “adopted son” or so she told him…he was at her beck and call…he drove her to church every Sunday night…missed football games, fun things with his buddies…all sorts of things…he was always doing things for her and admired her greatly. We all felt that he was a blessing because we live so far apart and the Atlanta traffic? OMG…horrid. So…he spoke at the funeral and he called her his princess. See, his mother, dad and daughter had died…he has one son alive…my aunt took over for his mother and he seemed to come out of a funk that he had been in…just an unselfish kind sweet gentleman. Well folks…2 days after the funeral…he died. They said he died of a broken heart. OMG…just heart wrenching. I cried…my cousin who is also his neighbor was so close to him and after loosing her mother…he promised to take care of her…she called…it was horrid…so, it has been unbelievable. We just should all remember to not take life for granted…and always tell those that we love…that we love them.
Good night sweeties…heading to bed. Miss you all.
MUAH!
Here’s last night’sTaylor tweet.
.
and another this morning that will interest CBB and Jeanni.
It’s very sad about Micheal Jackson. He is a one of a kind musician like Elvis was. Another one that died too young. I think he was very troubled in the last years but the music he made will live on for many years to come. I can just see Taylor doing the moon walk at Grease..I just love that guy.
CBB glad to see you. It’s very sad about you aunt’s friend. It goes to show again what a special lady she was.
I think you’re right about Taylor. He gets more handsome all the time and more polished. He was right when he said that Grease would help season him as a performer.
CBB and Jeanni, so sorry for your loses.
You both are still in my prayers.
Cone Ranger was moon walking?
There just has to be a video or at least a picture of this somewhere!
Katja’s pic of Taylor doing the moon dance. She is so creative and funny. I love it!
http://i39.tinypic.com/21r3hi.jpg
Ooops..I guess I may have been wrong about Taylor’s golf tournament. Disgregard.
BHG, Katja is so talented, that was so cute!!
JI
Hello Girls,
Hopefully, things in general will slow down in my and Cbb’s family, but I doubt it, never has.
Thank you all for the sweet words of kindness, I appreciate it very much.
I’ve never seen so much in the news, have you’all? Oh dear, all the deaths. I agree with the comments regarding the fabulously talented Michael Jackson. I admired the unique music he made, his fabulous dancing abilitity and his limitless talent. What a difference it would have made had he had a happier childhood or even a “normal” childhood. Theres been too much written that would highly suggest Michael was both physically and mentally abused. Actually, I think it was right there in his eyes. What a sad story this is. What a waste…Yet his music will be even more popular because its timeless and original, not like most of the junk on pop radio now days….that’s my opinion anyway.
As for Taylor and the tremendous changes we’ve seen? OH yes, I believe so. He’s matured both physically and it seems, emotionally. He is who he is, but he just seems to have exploded with even more of his fabulous talent on the stage during Grease and his Shadow Tour. I have never seen him more spot on then this. HE is totally brilliant.
His voice is fabulous…all by its self. I LOVED the above video’s. What a joy it is to hear him sing with a small group. Brian is fabulous on the piano and Josh was wonderful as usual and Taylor? AMAZING. I can’t wait for CBB and I to experience this wonderful man in August. HE really is a super star. I couldn’t be happier. Sooner or later girls, people will have to take notice of his fabulous talent along with his stunning looks. What a fabulous combination…OH my goodness!!!
Have a great weekend everybody!!
PS: OFF topic…has anyone seen the movie, “The Proposal?”….OMG, talk about a glorious chick flick? OH yeah baby. I can’t wait to see it, I’ve seen the trailer…wanna see it? Here you go…LMAO….
Taylor and the Moon Walk? Wow…I don’t doubt it…the boy can dance!! Contrary to a certain bunch of morons who say otherwise? LOL. I think we’ve seen him do that? I was trying to recall where it was? Anyone have an actual photo of that? Wish we did…Bet that brought out some screams….I would have been one of them. LOL.
Jeanni, Loved the video a real chick flick indeed, now I will have to see the whole movie!!!
Michael Jackson just worry about his kids. I had thought the two older ones were his biologically but was told last night that it was said on the news none of the children are his. The older ones Mom Debby Rowe said in a statement that there better be trust set up for thie kids, real motherly love! She scares me as what I read the children will be handed over to her.
did you guys see Katja’s new pic of Taylor moonwalking pretty cute!!
JI
Jeanni that movie looks hilarious. I love Sandra Bullock.
I don’t think anyone got the moonwalk on film. I wish they had.
Jersey I agree that it’s sad for his kids. I hope the people who take them treat them right.
From what I have read the two older ones are going to Debby Rowe who carried them, don’t know about the youngest one. Unless one of his brothers or sisters steps in and fights to keep the three kids together the Mom’s will be awarded custody.
JI
Have you girls seen this one from the the other night at the Magic Bag? I like it.
http://i39.tinypic.com/34telqg.jpg
Jeanni thanks for the clip.
BHG, love the picture!
And agree with you all, those children will not have it easy, no matter who gets custody.
Hey Girls,
Your welcome for the clip, is that a really cool chick flick or what? I think guys would like it too. Sandra seems to be a favorite of everybody, I love her!
BHG…Thank you for that photo…OH MY…Taylor is so photogenic, in black and white and color…in everything…sighhhhhhh.
Jersey…OH gosh…I didn’t hear the latest about MJ’s children. I’ve watched the news, but missed the latest. So, Debbie R. can get the two children she carried for MJackson?
Can I be very blunt here? Sorry if this offends anyone….. I thought the entire “conception” was strange…meaning…why didn’t MJackson just donate his sperm for children carrying his own DNA? How difficult could that have been anyway? Why go forth and have his wife (DebbieR) have some other man’s children? Make sense to you? Then the last child? According to earlier reports, the mother is not even known! What then?
The mother, if I recall the details, fought to keep her children, MichaelJ. won them in a court battle. As for legal rights, I have to wonder, the children carry HIS name, its on the birth certificate, yet the DNA doesn’t match, so no adoption was legally done. How the court will settle this one I have no idea. People have said the children’s life with MJackson was “normal”…how? How could it have been? As for DebbieR’s comment about a “Trust”…I hope they do have one, for their own sakes…not for the birth mother, however, IF she has no job, she will need to have income to support two children who will probably be in the eye of a crush of reporters dogging them, very scary and sad for those children.
Keep us posted.
Jeanni, Someone said they heard it on the CNN that the two older ones were not his. Haven’t heard anything about the youngest. But like you said why go through all of that and not have the kids be his. Who knows what his thought process was. One thing those kids live a very sheltered life, it maybe a big adjustment going to live with their Mom. As far as trusts from what I have read he was deeply in debt so not so sure there are any trusts at this point. They say he may be worth more dead than alive eveything about him is selling out quickly.
JI
*wonders who else thought MJ would be worth more dead*
Taylordays, Your thoughts are the same as my son. He said about the same thing to me last night!!!!
JI
Hey did you guys see this Taylor is on the cover of a B’Ham magazine on their hot list!!!
http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/oo108/jerseyirish/taybhammag.jpg
JI
Jersey,
Yes, it was strange about his not being the father at least. Good heavens. All that rouble? I think he self loathed himself anyway, so perhaps that was the reason. A very sad life. The children will probably end up with the grandparents. We know the first two children were Debbie R.’s and the last one’s mother wasn’t revealed. His estate will eventually be paid off and the children will get the reward from the sales of CD’s and etc., I hope. Since they aren’t his children, most likely they have no talent such as his? Thats a shame too. I just find all of it very sad.
LOVE seeing Taylor on the cover of BIRMINGHAM MAGAZINE…Taylor is a very sucessful businessman, we all knew that. Those who constantly belittled him saying he wasn’t a success? HAHAHAHAHA. Funny, really funny and mostly “head in the sand” on their part. We’ve been trying to tell’em…they just don’t pay attention do they? LOL.
Goodnight all…have a great Tuesday.
